Service at Hampton Inn and Suites hotels
When you are staying at a hotel, the friendliness and level of service provided by the hotel staff can make a big difference in whether your stay there is a pleasant or an unpleasant experience. Even a friendly smile and a warm, if professional, greeting can help you to feel at home and relax after a stressful trip or a difficult time at a crowded airport security line. While much of this part of the hotel experience depends on the individuals who happen to be behind the desk when you arrive, most hotels also have basic service policies which allow you to feel more comfortable staying at the establishment. You are, after all, in a strange city, and even if you speak the local language and are a citizen of the country, having someone who can answer your questions and give a bit of help with your stay can be invaluable.
The Hampton Inn and Suites hotel chain is a limited-service hotel, so many of the fancier services are simply not present. For example, there is no restaurant on the premises of any Hampton Inn, so it is not possible to order room service other than from take-out pizzerias and restaurants that you can telephone in the area. Similarly, there are no bell services either. However, there are some basic services that may prove to be extremely useful during your stay.
The front desk of every Hampton Inn is open twenty-four hours a day, so in the event you need something – for example, if some fixture in your room breaks unexpectedly and you need to be moved to another room, or if you are unfortunate enough to have a medical emergency and need someone to call an ambulance for you – the hotel staff will be on hand, one telephone button away, to give you their assistance in dealing with whatever the situation is. As part of their job, they are expected to be reasonably helpful, so you can probably get local directions and other information if you need it. You can, naturally, get wake-up calls as well.
The front desk also offers a safe deposit box for any exceptionally valuable items you may have. Knowing that a family heirloom, an important folder of papers, or an extremely valuable item you don’t want to carry with you is secure in the hotel safe deposit box rather than taking its chances in your room will allow you to relax when you go out for several hours, or all day, to attend to your business, visit someone you know in the area, eat out at a restaurant, and so on.
Although Hampton Inn and Suites hotels are all supposed to be identical in the services they offer, in practice, this still varies somewhat from region to region. Most hotels do not offer concierge services as part of the limited-service philosophy of the Hampton, but a few do. Those in the southern United States and other areas with large numbers of Spanish-speakers frequently have multilingual staff members on duty at all times so ensure that all guests can get the service and assistance they need regardless of their native tongue.
Housekeeping is the final bit of human service you can expect at a Hampton Inn and Suites hotel. Although they do not boast the intensive services found at full service hotels, the Hampton still gives you a friendly greeting and enough basic services to make your stay smooth and pleasant.
