Room types at the Hampton Inn and Suites

Different travelers have different needs in the rooms that they are looking for. The room you will require if you are traveling alone is quite different from the lodgings you need if you are on the road with your spouse and three young children. If you smoke heavily, then a smoking room will do, while if you are allergic to cigarette smoke and feel your nose and throat begin to burn and leak uncontrollably if you are trapped in the same room with it, then only a non-smoking room will give you a peaceful, restorative night’s sleep.

The Hampton Inn and Suites hotel chain features several different kinds of rooms to meet these diverse requirements. Since the hotel chain’s owning company, Hilton Worldwide, has enforced uniformity on the Hampton – unlike its original emphasis on local variations to make stays seem more unique – you will find exactly the same types of rooms at all Hampton Inn and Suites hotels, both inside the United States and overseas. Once you have educated yourself about the kinds of rooms you can pick from, you will always know what is available when you see the company’s white and navy blue sign projecting above the fast food restaurants and all-night gas stations ahead of you.

Regular rooms come in four types – two with a single King-sized bed, and two with a pair of double beds. The other factor which varies is whether the room is smoking or non-smoking – each of the bedding arrangements described above comes with a choice between those where cigarettes are permitted, and those which are free of their smoke.  All of these rooms come with the standard array of Hampton Inn amenities – an extra-soft “Cloud Nine” bed, free high-speed Internet access, a coffee maker, an ironing board, possibly a refrigerator and microwave, and satellite television service so that you aren’t obliged to watch some local channel broadcasting the recent garbage can painting contest.

The “Suites” portion of the Hampton Inn and Suites name indicates that these hotels also feature at least a few suites each. These fancy, extra-comfortable rooms usually also come in smoking and non-smoking variants, and feature all of the amenities found in regular rooms, as well as a few more.

Known as the Junior Suite or, more artistically, the Studio Suite, the smallest type of Hampton suite is a single room which is quite a bit larger than a regular room, and features both a King-sized bed and a foldout sofa bed in case your party is larger than two. The studio suite is furnished with an elegant but comfortable style, including armchairs, a desk with an office chair and bright table lamp for working or reading, and a whirlpool bath so that you can wash off the dust of the road in style

The larger suites are typically two rooms, with a bedroom/living area and a full-service kitchen. The bedroom in these suites is also furnished in a gracious, comfortable style, and includes two double beds as well as the full-sized sofa bed, giving you enough sleeping space for a small army if needs be. The full-service kitchen includes a full-sized refrigerator – rather than the mini fridge found in other rooms --- a microwave, a full set of dishes and utensils, and a cooktop, so that you can prepare whatever food strikes your fancy, in the way that you prefer it.

A Hampton Inn and Suites hotel, in short, has a room that fits your requirements regardless of whether you’re a lone wolf stalking a juicy business contract, or a harried parent on vacation with a carload of kids and a need for a clean, affordable place to store them overnight while you get some rest.  You can even opt for the relative luxury of one of the suites – and discover the most luxurious accommodations that the Hampton Inn has to offer.
