Military Specials at Hampton Inn and Suites
Serving your country in the United States military is a notable, praiseworthy deed, and one which gives you many interesting life experiences which will remain with you for the rest of your days, whether or not you ultimately choose to remain in the military. Being a member of the armed services also means that you will be traveling frequently as well. Much of this travel will be carried out from base to base, often by military transport, but you will also be traveling separately from your fellow soldiers on occasion, and when this happens, you will need what every other traveler needs – somewhere to stay overnight.
The Hampton Inn and Suites recognizes both the unique contribution of military personnel to the survival of the United States, and the fact that they often travel, with “military specials” – discounted room rates at some Hampton Inns located near military bases and on routes that armed services people often travel. The Hampton Inn and Suites website offers a search utility that allows you to search not only by city and state, but also by airport, and even by “landmarks” – and military bases are included in the landmarks list. Choosing “landmark” and then typing in the name of a military base will tell you if there is a Hampton hotel near the location in question.
You will need to give your government-issued identification at the desk in order to receive the special discount for military personnel, however – simply showing up in a uniform is not enough. Since a member of the United States military is unlikely to be traveling without identification papers (and probably a good deal of other paperwork as well), this will generally not be a problem.
Once you have identified yourself as a military man or woman, you – and your family, if they happen to be with you at the moment – will receive a special discount on your Hampton room. There are no additional special services for hotel guests from the armed forces, but you can count on the same warm, professional welcome as all others staying at the hotel, and can enjoy the same amenities as they do, with the added bonus that you are paying less for everything.
Hampton Inn and Suites offers both regular rooms and suites (hence its names), and like all Hampton hotels except the new Hampton Boutique line, is a limited-service hotel without restaurants or shops inside the hotel building, and lacking concierge services. The hotel does offer some extra amenities, however – including extra-soft beds as a welcome change from your army bunk, a complementary hot breakfast (or a bagged breakfast of packaged muffins, bottled water, and an apple if you need to leave quickly in the morning), and free high speed Internet service everywhere in the hotel, including the lobby and the individual rooms, so that you can communicate easily via e-mail, voice-over-Internet-protocol (VOIP), or simply catch up on the latest military news or the weather at your overseas destination.
The Hampton also offers special rates to certain other government employees when proper government identification is offered. You will need to check to see if the hotel you are visiting offers these specials, of course. But if you are a serviceman or servicewoman traveling through the United States, you can rest assured that Hampton appreciates your efforts on behalf of the American people, and is willing to offer you a special rate on a clean, pleasant room at many of their Inns and Suites hotels.
